Shall Not Be Denied:
Women Fight For the Vote

Identity, Exhibition, Print

Shall Not Be Denied marks the 100th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment and celebrates the determined women who organized, lobbied, paraded, petitioned, lectured, and picketed for women’s rights. As visitors walk through the gallery the walls taper down as Suffragists get closer to obtaining the right to vote. The walls of the gallery define the “street” and allow visitors to march beside suffragists demonstrating in the streets. The exhibition concludes by opening into a large “plaza” that reflects back on the long struggle and showcases the accomplishments of women in politics and society.
